In His Presence

1 Kings 10:1-13

Queen Sheba heard about a king who was famous, who had great wisdom and wealth and a relation to the name of the Lord.  Being a queen she was acquainted with many royalties but Solomon’s wisdom and relationship to God urged her to see him personally.  She came with large amounts of spices, gold, and precious stones to test him with hard questions.  She spent time with him asking all that was on her mind and Solomon answered all her questions, nothing was too hard for him.  She said to the king, “The report I heard in my country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.  But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes.  Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard.”

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.  Twice the word hearing is used in this verse.  Queen Sheba heard about the greatness of Solomon but only believed when she saw for herself (1 Kings 10:7). Last year I came across a phrase “the 18 inch drop” in a bible study I attended.  This 18-inch drop from head knowledge to heart knowledge will only happen in the presence of our Great King.

Go to the King with all that you are going through (questions, doubts, challenges, needs, ideas) because nothing is too hard for Him.  You will come out with faith from the royal bounty that will sustain you until He gives you what you need, desire, and ask for (1 Kings 10:13).

Lord, remove obstacles from the life of this reader so that he or she can have an intimate relationship with you.  Grant them wisdom to know what to do and faith to hold on until they receive an answer from you.
